Things appear to be moving for FC Barcelona in the market as they are close to signing Oriol Romeu on loan while Pablo Torre is expected to leave on loan for Girona.
The club continue to push for the signing of a new right-back and another new midfielder, potentially Bernardo Silva of Manchester City.
At the same time, there are matters close to home that need to be taken care of. For starters, the Blaugrana wish to seal the contract renewals of Lamine Yamal and Alejandro Balde before flying off on the pre-season tour of the United States of America.
Beyond that, another pressing issue for Barcelona is the future of Arnau Tenas. The 22-year-old La Masia product is a free agent now after his contract with the club expired on June 30.
And, as per Javi Miguel of AS, the La Liga champions hope to re-sign the goalkeeper on a new contract at the earliest possible as they want him to be on the US tour.
Tenas is widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in Spain, which was very much evident during the recent UEFA U-21 European Championships. Barça rate the youngster highly and want him to continue at the club for a long time.
However, the Catalans did not activate a two-year extension option on his previous contract as they felt that his new wages would not fit into the club’s current economic situation.
As such, having allowed to run down his previous contract, Barcelona plan to offer a new deal to Tenas in the coming days and hope that he re-signs with his boyhood club. But such a move could be complicated as the 22-year-old is attracting interest from several other clubs.
Should he pen a new deal with Barça, Tenas would continue to be the third-choice goalkeeper behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Inaki Pena. So, a loan exit could be a possibility. Or the youngster might decide to join a different club altogether permanently now that he is a free agent.
