Positive outcome expected as cat out of the bag over Wolves summer swoop

Positive outcome expected as cat out of the bag over Wolves summer swoop

Reports claim Wolves are confident of signing Shakhtar Donetsk winger Pedrinho during the summer with talks now at an advanced stage.

The 24-year-old has been on the Molineux outfit’s radar for some time. But they were not the only Premier League club to hold an interest. Back in March, Everton were linked with a swoop but Wolves were always thought to hold all the aces.

And that is because of the influence of manager Bruno Lage. The Portuguese tactician worked with Pedrinho while in charge of Benfica.

And it has been reported that he has already asked the club’s hierarchy to sanction a move for the Brazil Under-23 star. Goal Brasil are suggesting that talks are under way about a transfer in the off-season.

And they state that dialogue ‘should have a positive outcome’ in the next transfer window, with a bid already submitted.

It remains to be seen if the talented schemer does end up in the West Midlands, with other clubs likely to enter the picture. But an exit from his Ukrainian club seems inevitable due to the circumstances in the war-torn nation.

Wolves fail in Pedrinho secrecy bid

Wolves have enjoyed a solid campaign in the Premier League and currently sit eighth in the standings. Their form has dipped in the past few months, with six defeats in their last nine outings.

But they are still in with a chance of finishing seventh and face a battle with West Ham for that position. Summer recruitment will be key and it appears as though Pedrinho is high on Lage’s wish list.

Wolves wanted their move kept from the public. The bid is said to have included a confidentiality clause to prevent details being released.

However, Goal Brasil have confirmed that it is the Black County outfit who have firmed up their interest.

Having started his career with Corinthians, the forward moved to Benfica in 2020. He made just 19 appearances for the Primeira Liga club before signing for Shakhtar in June last year.

Bruno Lage, Wolves, February 2022.

The Brazilian had made eight starts among 13 top-flight appearances in Ukraine before the season was halted. And he started seven times in the Champions League.

Wolves will be getting an experienced player if they do manage to complete a deal when the dust settles on 2021-2022.
