Transfer gossip: Man Utd turn to Wayne Rooney in chase for Derby wonderkid; Brighton star to cost Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham £45m

Malcolm Ebiowei after a Derby County match

Manchester United are in pole position to land talented Derby County winger Malcolm Ebiowe, while Friday’s Transfer Gossip claims Brighton have named their price for Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham target Marc Cucurella.

MAN UTD IN POLE POSITION TO LAND DERBY PROSPECT

Manchester United are reportedly paying close attention to Derby County prospect Malcolm Ebiowei.

United are joined by three other Premier League clubs in tracking the right-winger, with Tottenham Newcastle and Crystal Palace also keen on the player.

But the Daily Mail states that United have two major advantages over their rivals.

Firstly, the fact that Red Devils manager Wayne Rooney has decided to stay on at Derby and could green-light the move.

Secondly, new United assistant manager Steve McClaren still has strong links with Derby, where he worked twice as a manager, and more recently as a technical director and then ‘senior adviser’ until leaving in 2021.

Ebiowei, 18, made 16 appearances for Derby in the Championship this season, scoring once and providing two assists.

Summer scramble for talented Derby winger

The player will soon be a free agent, which is expected to spark a scramble for his services.

While the Rams are keen on keeping him, they are fully aware that Premier League interest will likely be too good to turn down.

Ebiowei plays as a right-winger, a position where United already have two prospects in Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri waiting in the wings.

However, that is not expected to deter them from landing the Derby starlet.

PREM TRIO LEARN HEFTY CUCURELLA FEE

Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham have reportedly been told they will have to cough up £45million if they want to sign Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella this summer.

Thomas Tuchel is expected to act quickly once the Blues are told that can re-enter the transfer market. And 23-year-old Cucurella is one of the top names on his list.

Chelsea are already set to lose Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen when their contracts expire. Cesar Azpilicueta is also a target for Barcelona, while Marcos Alonso could also return to his homeland.

That leaves the Stamford Bridge outfit woefully short on defensive options. And Tuchel views Cucurella has an ideal, given his ability to play at left-back and as a wing-back, as reported in The Sun.

City’s interest stems from Arsenal chasing their back-up full-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. Tottenham, meanwhile, are looking to replace Sergio Reguilon, who could be on his way back to LaLiga.

TOTTENHAM NAME WINKS PRICE

Spurs have reportedly placed a £25million valuation on midfielder Harry Winks, with the England international set to leave this summer.

A report in the Daily Mail states that both Newcastle and Southampton are keen on the player.

Winks was largely restricted to cameo roles under Antonio Conte during the second half of the season. And with the Spurs boss actively in the market for another central midfielder, Winks will be moved on.

The report states that Daniel Levy will listen to offers of between £20-25m for the 26-year-old. That figure may be a little high though, given how far Winks’ stock has fallen this season.

But if Tottenham can offload the player they are expected to try and land Yves Bissouma as his replacement.

The Brighton man has enjoyed another outstanding campaign and is valued at a bargain £30m.
