Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has admitted he has been startled by Barcelona's summer spending spree due to the club's insistence that they're struggling financially.
Barça completed the signing of Bayern stalwart Robert Lewandowski for a deal that could rise to €50m on Tuesday after weeks of negotiations.
Xavi's men recently added Raphinha to their ranks from Leeds United, while Franck Kessie and Andreas Christensen's free transfers were confirmed at the start of July and Ousmane Dembele re-joined after agreeing to a pay cut.
Despite their summer spending, Barcelona's financial troubles have been well documented and club president Joan Laporta has been looking to activate 'levers' in order to ease their woes, notably selling a large portion of their TV rights for the foreseeable future.
When asked about Barcelona's busy window, Nagelsmann said their contradictory financial situation was confusing to him.
"It is the only club in the world that have no money, but then buy all the players they want. I don't know how they do it. It's a bit strange, a bit crazy," he said.
Bayern may not look to directly replace Lewandowski this window following Sadio Mane's arrival from Liverpool, while they have been linked with a move for Harry Kane next year.
Centre-back Matthijs de Ligt completed his move to the Allianz Arena on Tuesday to take Die Roten's spending past the €100m mark.
