La Liga New Ball | An Improved Design for Better Play

Lately, the 2023 La Liga new ball has been getting plenty of buzz in the soccer community. This new ball replaces the current one, which has been used since 2017. What exactly makes this ball so special? Why should it be used by La Liga and other leagues across the world? And most importantly, why should you as a soccer player consider using it in your next game? To answer these questions, I’ve put together this short piece on the 2023 La Liga new ball and how it can improve your game play...and I even included my personal experience with it! Let’s get to it...

What Makes an Official Match Ball?

The ball chosen to be used in a major football competition, like La Liga, has to meet certain criteria. First and foremost, it must feel great when kicked—the players who use it need to feel like they can control where it goes. The ball also needs to fly well when kicked. This is especially important if you’re playing in a stadium that has good air flow. Any big enough (and therefore hard enough) wind will wreak havoc on your shot if you’re not using an official match ball that can handle strong gusts of wind without becoming compromised. Thirdly, any type of official match ball needs to last long.

Current Problems with Typical Soccer Balls

The issue with typical soccer balls is that they are incredibly hard and brittle. Due to their hardness, soccer balls frequently crack and break during play. Moreover, when a ball does actually start to wear down, it loses its consistency and aerodynamics very quickly, meaning it falls short of providing proper support throughout a game. These issues often result in games that are either too short or have multiple breaks as players fix their equipment throughout gameplay. Current Solutions: Although there have been some attempts at creating durable soccer balls that can withstand more play before breaking, most manufacturers typically use non-durable materials or coatings (typically polyurethane) to make up for poor structural integrity by filling in small cracks on the surface of traditional soccer balls.

What Makes the 2023 La Liga New Ball So Great?

The 2023 la Liga new ball is an incredible step forward in terms of technology and design. The materials are lighter, which leads to better handling and durability. The surface uses a textured panel to improve aerodynamics and give players more control over their passes, which leads to faster play. And it’s been designed with new imagery inspired by ancient Spanish artwork to help increase brand awareness around the world. Fans will love playing with a great new ball!
