Chelsea appear desperate to land Anthony Gordon from Everton this summer and have reportedly offered a second player as part of a swap deal for him.
Gordon has become a top target for the Blues after they were beaten to the signing of Raphinha by Barcelona. Chelsea had struck a deal with Leeds Utd for the Brazilian, only for him to reject them in favour of Barca.
Thomas Tuchel wants a revamp of his wide options. Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic could leave Stamford Bridge as a result.
Ziyech is a target for AC Milan. The Moroccan has also been linked with a shock move to Manchester United, though they are prioritising a deal for Pulisic right now.
According to various sources, United are considering a loan bid for the American. Chelsea want him to pen a new contract before moving to the Red Devils, though.
Tuchel’s attacking options have been improved by the signing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City. But he wants another player to come in and provide competition for the likes of Sterling, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic – if he stays.
Everton’s England U21 international Gordon is the man Chelsea have set their sights on.
As per The Times and Sky Sports, Chelsea recently sent the Toffees a £40million bid for Gordon. However, this was rejected.
Everton are desperate to keep Gordon as Frank Lampard views him as a vital player for this season and for the future.
As with most players though, there is a price which will see him swap clubs. And this is £50m for Everton.
Chelsea offer two players and cash for Anthony Gordon
If Chelsea truly want to land the Liverpool-born ace, then they would match this offer right away. However, they have different plans right now.
They hope to spend less on Gordon by including Michy Batshuayi as part of a player-plus-cash deal.
And Football Insider state a second Chelsea player has been offered to Everton. This time, it is Billy Gilmour who could swap west London for Goodison Park.
Chelsea know how much Lampard rates the central midfielder following his time managing them. And they believe including the Scot in negotiations will see an agreement be struck.
What the report fails to mention is whether Gilmour’s move to Everton would be a loan or permanent switch. Chelsea fans will want to know this as Gilmour is an exciting prospect. Alongside Conor Gallagher and Carney Chukwuemeka, he could help the Blues transition away from N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in midfield.
Batshuayi’s transfer to Everton will surely be long-term. Lampard needs reinforcements in attack following the sale of Richarlison. And Batshuayi, who has won 45 caps for Belgium, could be a good solution.
He has Premier League experience and is also fairly high on confidence right now. That’s because he found the net 14 times during a loan spell at Besiktas last season.
Meanwhile, Everton hold an interest in signing James Garner from Manchester United, though they are not the leading suitor right now.
