Barcelona have been able to find some late adjustments in the transfer market, having recently sanctioned the exit of Samuel Umtiti while managing to register Jules Kounde.
As we head into the final few days of the transfer market, Barcelona could catch yet another lucky break as an unnamed club from Qatar have recently expressed the desire to sign Miralem Pjanic.
This has been reported by Gerard Romero, who suggests the Barça midfielder could be in contention to depart Camp Nou late in the window.
Coming on the back of a loan spell at Besiktas last season, Pjanic was never expected to become a part of Xavi’s setup heading into the 2022/23 campaign. However, the veteran made quite an impression in training.
His experience and understanding of Xavi’s game compelled Barcelona to keep him around, or at least not rush to sanction his exit.
Pjanic’s role in the team as the backup of Sergio Busquets was strengthened further following the loan exit of Nico Gonzalez. However, with Frenkie de Jong likely to remain at Camp Nou, the Bosnian is once again facing an uncertain future at the club.
It appears Barcelona will not mind offloading Pjanic late in the window, knowing the midfielder’s exit could help them pursue new players in the market.
Barça have been eyeing moves for a couple of fullbacks for a long time now. With the sale of Pjanic, they could be in a position to sign at least one, and perhaps even two, if they can also offload Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Memphis Depay.
However, with Romero offering very little detail about Pjanic’s future, it remains to be seen how things transpire over the course of the coming days.
