Barcelona and Chelsea will continue to negotiate over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s deal today, David Ornstein reports. With less than 48 hours left in the transfer window, the Blues want to step up their pursuit of the striker.
The two clubs have been negotiating for weeks, but have not been able to find an agreement over the transfer fee for the players. Barcelona’s asking price of €30 million has stepped down, but not enough for Chelsea as of yet.
Further, they have reportedly not agreed personal terms with the player, but that is not particularly concerning right now as a compromise will be made on that end if the clubs can reach a common ground.
Recently, Aubameyang was subject to a violent house robbery, where his family was held at gunpoint. The striker suffered a broken jaw during the struggle that ensued. The injury is set to rule him out for a number of weeks.
Should he choose to undergo surgery, though, it could cut back on the time he remains sidelined, but the player is yet to make a decision on that front.
The injury is unlikely to put Chelsea off the trail now, especially after weeks of pursuing his signature. In fact, they are even considering the option of a loan move as a permanent transfer seems complicated.
It does the trick for Barcelona, too, who want his €9 million wages off the book in an attempt to comply with La Liga’s financial fair play.
