Manchester United are ready to move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after getting big encouragement and with Erik ten Hag also eyeing two more new signings, Liverpool are set to receive a welcome transfer windfall, while Monday’s Euro Paper Talk says Arsenal are looking at a Lens midfielder.
SERGEJ MILINKOVIC-SAVIC WANTS TO MAKE MAN UTD MOVE
Manchester United are readying a move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic after reports in Italy suggested Lazio have set an obtainable asking price.
The Red Devils have spent the summer unsuccessfully trying to conclude a deal for Frenkie de Jong. Those hopes continue to bubble along and reports on Monday morning provided new hope for Erik ten Hag and Co.
However, there are members of the board at United who remain cautious over their transfer chances. And given the club appear no nearer his signing several weeks on, it’s little wonder to see the club exploring alternatives.
One of those, Fabian Ruiz, is already on the brink of a move elsewhere. To that end, PSG in advanced negotiations to sign him from Napoli.
United, though, could have far more joy in signing long-term target Milinkovic-Savic.
The Serbian is regarded as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in world football. He’s also a name familar to United fans with their interest in him charting back to the Jose Mourinho era.
Now, though, a move may finally be on the cards amid a new enquiry from United.
As per the print edition of il Corriere dello Sport, United have seen an initial enquiry of £42.1m (€50m) knocked back by the star. However, it appears they are willing to sell should they make a £54.7m (€65m) offer.
Furthermore, they claim the Serbian star is ready to say ‘yes’ to the move. In addition, the 27-year-old may reportedly try and grease the wheels by informing Lazio he wants to join the Manchester United.
Decision with Erik ten Hag as United eye two more after Sergej Milinkovic-Savic
It will now be down to Ten Hag as to whether United abdandon the pursuit for De Jong and turn to Sergej Milinkovic-Savic instead.
The United boss cut a frustrated figure during Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat to Brighton. That represented the worst possible start to his era and he knows further signings are needed to give his side fresh hope.
And it seems the club are ready to push through three new deals in the coming weeks to strengthen their hand.
A second midfielder signing is also on the cards in the form of Adrien Rabiot. With just a year left on his deal, his exit at Juventus now looks likely.
Widespread reports claim United have agreed a fee for Rabiot, with talks advancing over the move in the coming days, per Rudy Galetti.
United midfielder Scott McTominay could even be included as a makeweight in the deal.
And Ten Hag won’t stop there either with efforts to strengthen his attack gathering pace.
The club has seen an opening bid for Marko Arnautovic, worth around £7.2m, rejected. As such, they are reportedly considering whether to raise that bid, with his agent and brother keen to push the move through.
Should that fail, they will likely turn their attention to Stuttgart striker Sasa Kalajdzic.
The 6ft 7ins striker scored six times in 13 Bundesliga appearances last season and is reportedly valued at £15m.
