Manchester United have made headlines with their likely capture of Casemiro. The Real Madrid midfielder is set to make a shocking move to Old Trafford, potentially reuniting with his old teammates in Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo.
With the Casemiro deal almost done and dusted, Man United have already set their sights on their next big manoeuvre in the transfer market. One of their remaining targets is Sergino Dest, who has been identified as an ideal option in the right-back unit.
Man United boss Erik ten Hag has worked with Dest in the past, even playing a key role in helping him make his breakthrough in professional football. He is now keen on a reunion at Old Trafford, as part of his plans to reinforce the options in the fullback unit.
The Red Devils have indeed had a tough time with their fullbacks, especially in the right-back department. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has struggled to offer consistency and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford.
It has compelled United to make a move for Dest, who could prove to be an ideal competitor for Diogo Dalot in the position.
And according to Miguel Delaney, Manchester United are making progress in their quest to sign the Barcelona defender. Although the reputed journalist has not offered much details, it appears the Premier League giants are on course to signing the right-back by the end of the month.
The American international has failed to impress at Barcelona. His lack of consistency and inability to settle into Xavi’s tactical setup has compelled the Catalans to put him up for sale late in the transfer window.
On the flip side, Barça are actively looking for potential replacements for Dest in the transfer market. Villarreal starlet Juan Foyth has emerged as the top target for Xavi, with even Villarreal reportedly giving the defender the green light to join the Catalans.
