Sarina Wiegman has been named the 2021/22 UEFA Women's Coach of the Year after guiding England to Euro 2022 victory on home soil.

Wiegman took the Lionesses hot seat in September 2021, and within 11 months had transformed a team renowned for stumbling at the semi final stage at major tournaments into European champions.

Lyon boss Sonia Bompastor and Martina Voss-Tecklenburg - whose Germany side were beaten by Wiegman's England in the Euro 2022 final - were also nominated

Euro 2022 represented a second successive European Championship triumph for Wiegman, having also guided the Netherlands to victory on home soil at Euro 2017.

The 52-year-old named the same starting XI in all six matches at Euro 2022, and was praised for her use of impact subs, person-centric player management and calm head during the tournament.

England won every single game at the Euros, beating Germany 2-1 in extra time in the final as the Lionesses lifted their maiden piece of silverware.

Wiegman has twice been on the shortlist for the UEFA Women's Coach of the Year during her time in charge of the Netherlands, but this is the first time she has scooped the top award.
