Brentford are braced for an approach from Aston Villa for Thomas Frank, sources have told Football Insider.
The London club’s manager distanced himself from the Villa post on Friday and insisted he has “unfinished business” at the Gtech Community Stadium.
Sources tell us that Frank, 49, has a relatively low release clause in his Brentford contract, which is believed to be less than £3million.
The Bees are putting out early feelers on potential manager replacements for the Dane as they prepare for Villa to make contact.
Steven Gerrard was sacked by Villa after a dismal 3-0 defeat to Fulham on Thursday (20 October).
The result left the Villains outside the relegation one on goals scored.
Villa fans turned on Gerrard during the game at Craven Cottage as The Athletic reported on the night that fans were chanting “get out of our club” as the now-former manager headed down the tunnel at full time.
The former Rangers man leaves Villa Park after less than 12 months in charge.
Frank has been in charge at Brentford since October 2018 after initially joining as part of Dean Smith’s coaching staff two years earlier.
