Kevin Campbell is adamant Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis should have been awarded a penalty against RB Leipzig.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Arsenal and Everton striker slammed the officials for failing to spot in the incident in the latter stages of the 2-0 defeat for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
As shown on BT Sport (11 October), Giakoumakis was impeded inside the six-yard area when trying to equalise for the Hoops against RB Leipzig on Tuesday.
Referee Halil Umut Meler did not adjudge there to have been a foul and VAR did not deem a clear and obvious error to have been made.
The incident would prove decisive with the Hoops conceding a second goal minutes later.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the penalty shout, Campbell said: “It is a penalty.
“Here is the crazy thing, when you watch it again the defender is tugging him back all of the way. Normally, when players hold onto the opposition in the box they let go when the ball gets near. This lad never even let go.
“The officials still did not give it though. What does that tell you? Something it not right. Something is not working because that has to be a penalty.

“He is holding him all of the way. It is a penalty all day long.
“Celtic could have been playing until next week and they would not have scored. They needed some help and the penalty could have given them that.”
