Robinson 'surprised' by Liverpool stars after journalist's 'uncharacteristic' reveal

Paul Robinson is “surprised” Liverpool are yet to win away from home in the Premier League this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said it is “uncharacteristic” for Jurgen Klopp’s side to be so poor on the road.

The Reds lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest on Saturday (22 October).

As reported by The Athletic’s James Pearce, Liverpool have won just two points from a possible 15 on the road this term.

Injuries have plagued Jurgen Klopp’s side, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip all missed the visit to the City Ground.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to Liverpool’s away record, Robinson said: “It is surprising to hear that.

“It is uncharacteristic of these players. They look like a team in transition.

“The amount of injuries have not helped. They have a very young, inexperienced midfield against Forest. The managers hand was forced with the injuries they have got.

“I thought they were back on track after beating Rangers, Man City and West Ham. It was not a great result against Nottingham Forest.

“They could have won the game. I think the result is just a bump in the road. There is a confidence problem and there is too many top players not performing. I do not think it is panic stations yet though.”
