Transfer Gossip: Arsenal set sights on stunning raid for Man Utd attacker after major development; Chelsea plan for three blockbuster deals in 2023

Arsenal are looking to snare Marcus Rashford from Manchester United amid claims of a crafty approach, Chelsea are planning for three signings that will set them back around £270m, while Thursday’s Transfer Gossip has news of a bargain £4.5m Everton capture.

MARCUS RASHFORD ON ARSENAL TRANSFER WISHLIST

Arsenal are plotting a sensational raid on Manchester United in 2023 with a move for Marcus Rashford in their sights.

The Gunners are enjoying a brilliant start to the season, winning seven of their first eight games to sit on top of the Premier League table.

Mikel Arteta’s squad are packed full of young, exciting talent with both Gabriel Jesus and William Saliba proving excellent additions. Saliba, of course, has been an Arsenal player for a few years, but is only now making his name with the Gunners following a series of loans.

However, their squad could soon be boosted by Rashford should Edu get his way.

The 24-year-old’s future at Old Trafford remains shrouded in mystery with his deal set to expire in summer 2024. Talks over an extension are yet to see an agreement reached for the homegrown attacker. And while Manchester United have an option to extend his stay by 12 months, the Red Devils are yet to activate that clause.

As such, Football Insider reports that this is offering encouragement that Rashford can be enticed away.

Arsenal have already registered their interest in his signing with Rashford’s camp – and have strong belief they can secure his signing in 2023.

They used the same approach this time last year with Jesus – and believe they can have similar success with Rashford.

Arsenal have Marcus Rashford competition as valuation revealed

United reportedly value Rashford at the £50m mark, though could, technically, lose him for free in the summer. That, of course, won’t happen with United moving to protect their asset before then.

But if they get a sniff that Rashford is unwilling to extend that deal, then a move to the Gunners could be on. As such, the possibility of a move there is seemingly a growing possibility.

Should United make him available, though, the Gunners will not have things all their own way.

Indeed, PSG are also likely to be strong contenders for his signature.

Their striker Kylian Mbappe is a confirmed fan of the England striker. Indeed, he requested his side sign Rashford as part of his own contract renewals.

PSG are likely to have a space open up in their attack with Lionel Messi nearing an emotional return to Barcelona next summer.

Rashford has three goals and two assists to his name in seven Premier League appearances so far this season.

CHELSEA WANT TO ADD RAFAEL LEAO, DECLAN RICE TO NKUNKU DEAL

If anyone is in any doubts over which club will be the major spenders going forwards, then wonder no more.

Chelsea lavished an incredible £263m over the summer to kick-off the Todd Boehly era in emphatic fashion. That tally is the most any Premier League club has ever spent in a single transfer window.

And while the new signings have taken time to gel, Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over AC Milan illustrates that they are now starting to find their rhythm.

Sadly, though, for the Blues, it’s not looking too good for their most meaty summer signing, Wesley Fofana. Fofana hobbled off at Stamford Bridge and Graham Potter has provided a gloomy update.

Nonetheless, Potter remains intent on bolstering his squad and now reports claim plans are afoot for more lavish spending.

The Blues have already struck a deal with RB Leipzig to sign Christopher Nkunku next summer. His arrival will set them back a chunk over his £52m release clause with Chelsea acting fast to tie up an agreement.

Leao and Rice next

However, Chelsea will not stop there with Rafael Leao the next in their sights. His signing is likely to cost in the £90m region, with the Portuguese star already talked up by Potter.

He was given a torrid time by Reece James on Wednesday night – but the feeling remains he will excel in England. Per the Daily Mirror, Boehly has already held talks over his signing.

The Blues are also going to go big for Declan Rice in 2023. His signing is likely to cost well in excess of £120m and will likely break the British transfer record.

His contract at West Ham ties him to the London Stadium until 2024. And 90min claims Rice is likely to leave the Hammers next summer in order to further his career.

EVERTON HAVE BARGAIN OPTION ON CONOR COADY SIGNING

Everton are to trigger the permanent option on Conor Coady after a report revealed the bargain option they have on the deal.

Conor Coady of Everton challenges Darwin Nunez of Liverpool during the Premier League match at Goodison Park, Liverpool

Coady, 29, departed Wolves over the summer with his exit raising eyebrows among the Molineux faithful. With then-boss Bruno Lage wanting to revert to a four-man defence, he doubted Coady’s suitability of playing in such a formation.

However, Coady has since excelled at Everton and proved those claims undoubtedly wrong with some stellar performances. He’s been one of the Toffees’ best players and become one of the first names on Frank Lampard’s teamsheet. Fair enough, too, with Coady predicting his impact before his debut.

The Toffees were reported to have paid Wolves a chunky loan fee to take Coady to Goodison. That permanent fee is widely reported to be around the £16m mark.

The Daily Telegraph, however, claims Everton can secure his permanent signing for just £4.5m if activated before the end of the season. Now the paper claims the Toffees are willing to trigger that arrangement at the first available opportunity.

And the manner of the lowly fee, together with Coady’s excellent form, is bound to have more questions asked of Wolves‘ decision.

Coady has played in all seven of Everton’s Premier League games, scoring once and assisting once.
