Barcelona are in need of generating revenue to address their Financial Fair Play issues. And they may have found one source of income for the club as the Blaugrana are close to announcing a new sponsorship agreement.
Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are on the verge of confirming a three-year sponsorship deal with cryptocurrency company ‘whiteBIT’.
A company of Ukrainian origin, whiteBIT had previously made a play to become the Catalan club’s shirt sleeve sponsors. There had been negotiations with the club this past summer and the company had even made a lucrative offer.
However, an agreement could not be finalised as the higher levels of Barça administration were uncertain about committing to a cryptocurrency company, considering that some organisations in that sector had been going into financial crisis at the time.
Nevertheless, while the two clubs were unable to strike a deal over a sleeve sponsorship, Barcelona and whiteBIT are set to shake hands on a three-year deal, with the latter becoming the club’s new ‘partner’ in the field of cryptocurrencies.
There is said to be an agreement in principle over a three-year deal and it could provide Barcelona with some reprieve with regard to their fair play issues as the January transfer window looms large.
