According to reports in Italy, as relayed by SPORT, Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie has been offered to Inter Milan by his agent, George Atangana despite the latter refuting those claims recently.
Kessie has been in the headlines a lot of late, having been unable to carve out a place for himself in the Barcelona setup since his arrival in the summer.
Having joined as a free agent, the 25-year-old has failed to make an impression on manager Xavi Hernandez and has found minutes hard to come by. That, coupled with Barcelona’s financial problems, have led to intense speculations over his future.
Reports suggested that Kessie had been offered to Inter Milan and AC Milan in the recent past, but his agent vehemently denied those claims, stating that the midfielder was happy at Barça and was just going through a tough adaptation phase.
However, despite his claims, the aforementioned report states that Kessie’s agent has indeed offered the player to Inter and is set for further meetings in the future about a possible switch in January itself.
But, Inter Milan have concerns about Kessie’s salary which is around €6.5 million per year. So, any move in the winter would be possible only if his salary is reduced and part of it is covered by Barcelona.
If not, Inter would be open to signing Kessie in the summer of 2023, as long as the Blaugrana give him a letter of freedom and he is available as a free agent.
Indeed, if a loan agreement cannot be finalised now, Inter plan to meet Kessie’s agent again in the spring to discuss a transfer for the summer of 2023.
The midfielder, who is currently recovering from an injury, is said to be assessing his options and it remains to be seen how things develop in the coming weeks. However, at the moment, despite his agent suggesting otherwise, Kessie’s Barcelona future continues to be up in the air.
