Ansu Fati has had a difficult season so far with his playing minutes regulated by Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez.
The 20-year-old has featured in all matches for the Blaugrana across all competitions this team, but has rarely been given a starting berth by Xavi in light of his past injury troubles.
The manager and his staff have been cautious with the La Masia ace to avoid any recurrence of past injury problems. However, heading into the second half of the 2022/23 season, Xavi expects Ansu Fati to play a key role for the Catalan giants.
And, according to SPORT, the Spanish forward is ready for the challenge that lies ahead of him and feels prepared to become a valuable component of the team again after a rather bit-part role in the first half of the campaign.
Fati believes that his knee injury ordeals, which forced him to undergo several surgeries over the past couple of years, are a thing of the past and he has been patiently waiting for his moment to arrive this season.
The 20-year-old has had a few issues with his hamstring which has prevented him from being at his best. But he is ready to overcome all of it and become a key part of Xavi’s plans.
The big issue for Fati this season has been a lack of continuity in the team which, in turn, has stopped him from getting back to his best.
But Robert Lewandowski’s three-match ban in La Liga could open the doors for the youngster to stake a claim for more regular involvement moving forward.
Fati, as per reports, is all set to start in the upcoming Catalan derby against Espanyol on December 31. And it could be the perfect launching pad for him to once again become the shining light of this Barcelona side.
