Barcelona are desperate for reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window as part of their plans to strengthen the squad.
However, the club have been dealt with severe economic limitations, especially due to La Liga’s Financial Fair Play rules. They are in desperate need of generating more revenue if they are to sign new players or at least register the new contracts for a few stars such as Gavi and Ronald Araujo.
According to SPORT, Barcelona are hoping to generate more money through the sale of Memphis Depay. The Dutchman has made an impression during the FIFA World Cup and has been attracting a few clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
With his current contract at Camp Nou expiring at the end of the season, this is the last opportunity for Barça to offload Depay and generate some amount of revenue out of him.
Another means of revenue could be Barça’s sponsorship with Ukrainian cryptocurrency company WhiteBit. The club had recently confirmed an agreement worth €30 million for three years, amouting to €10 million per year.
Although the official announcement has disappeared from the club’s website, Barcelona are firm that the deal has not broken down and the two parties are only looking at a few more details before officiating the partnership. Even in the event of a broken deal, the club will receive a compensation fee.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are actively looking for a shirt sleeve partner. They have been without a sponsor on the shirt sleeves since the deal with Beko ended. There have been no shortage of suitors, but the club have appeared very reluctant on accepting any offer.
They are seeking to maximise the valuation, knowing the revenue generated from the deal could be crucial in helping the Catalans instigate multiple transfer operations in the January transfer window.
