A recent report from Mundo Deportivo has offered an update on the future of Hector Bellerin. The Barcelona defender has been the subject of speculations in recent weeks, with many linking him to a move away from Camp Nou just months after returning to Catalonia.

AS Roma and Real Betis were mainly the clubs credited with an interest in Bellerin. But as per the report, neither of the two teams appear to have any grounds to sign the defender in the upcoming January transfer window.

Roma, for one, are actively looking for a new right-back in the transfer market after Rick Karsdorp fell out with Jose Mourinho. But it appears Bellerin is not one of the club’s primary targets in January.

Betis, meanwhile, are interested in bringing back the Spaniard, who had spent the 2021/22 season on loan at the club. However, due to the financial implications of a January move, they are not expected to make any attempts to sign Bellerin next month.

Barcelona, for their part, do not hold high hopes as far as Bellerin’s sale is concerned. As a matter of fact, the Catalans are not too concerned with the defender’s lack of suitors and may not have any issues should the player remain at Camp Nou.

This is because Bellerin was roped in only as a last-minute alternative to top targets Cesar Azpilicueta and Juan Foyth. As such, the player was handed a significantly lower salary package than the rest of the squad.

Although a January sale for Bellerin may have helped Barcelona generate some amount of revenue, it appears the club are reluctant to lose one of their options at right-back, knowing they may have to sign a replacement in the market.
