KLOPP KEEN ON LIVERPOOL DEAL FOR N’GOLO KANTE

Liverpool are ready to make a firm push to sign N’Golo Kante as he nears the end of his Chelsea contract.

The France star has been one of the best midfielders in world football over the last eight years, ever since a 2015 move to Leicester.

He played just one season at Leicester, winning the Premier League title in the process.

And since signing for Chelsea in a £32m deal in summer 2016, Kante has won a collection of other titles, including another Premier League and the Champions League.

However, the five-year deal he signed in 2018 is due to expire this summer. Talks over an extension have yet to see Kante agree on a new deal.

Now reports in Spain claim  Liverpool are looking to take advantage and lure him to Anfield.

Klopp’s wish to rebuild Liverpool’s midfield is well documented, with Jude Bellingham a top target. However, with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and possibly James Milner leaving this summer, the Reds will need at least two new arrivals.

Per reports, Klopp sees Kante as a great addition for the Reds on a free.

Kante a man in demand

And despite being 31, he still has the legs and energy to add an extra dimension to the Liverpool engine room. Indeed, demand for Kante is high with the midfielder also reportedly having two other offers on the table.

However, the article claims Klopp would also love to weaken a direct rival in Chelsea by pinching Kante from them.

And they want to sign him as a free agent this summer, believing one last Premier League challenge will tempt him. As a result, they plan to put a sizeable offer on the table to him as well as an initial two-year deal with the option of a third year.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, though. is determined to ensure Kante does not leave. As such, he is reportedly scheduling in more talks with the player aimed at agreeing an extension with him at Stamford Bridge.
