Manchester United have been informed that they could sign a high-quality Serie A striker for as little as £10.6million this summer, while Arsenal are ready to reignite their interest in a Bundesliga attacker – all in Friday’s European transfer gossip.
BARGAIN FEE BOOSTS UNITED STRIKER HOPES
Manchester United have reportedly been told that they can sign a world-class striker for as little as £10.6million in the summer.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag is on the hunt for a new No.9 following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit, while Wout Weghorst is only on loan from Burnley.
Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic has been continually linked with a switch to Old Trafford. However, it appears that another Serie A frontman could make the move, and for an absolute bargain price as well.
Paulo Dybala has long been tipped to move to the Premier League, with Tottenham major suitors in the past. But it now appears that United are leading the chase to snap up the Argentina international.
And it appears that the Roma forward could be signed for as little as €12m (£10.6m), according to Diario Sport in Spain.
Dybala only moved to Rome last summer on a free transfer, penning a three-year contract with the Giallorossi.
However, Sky Sport Italia revealed at that time that any club wanting to sign the 29-year-old in the future would have to pay €20m (£17.6m).
That report has been challenged by Diario though, as they claim that the bigger figure is only relating to Italian clubs and not teams outside of Serie A wishing to land the striker.
Dybala back to his best at Roma
To that end, United could sign a proven international forward for an absolute snip, enabling Ten Hag to spend bigger of other areas of his team that he wants to improve.
Dybala has resurrected his stuttering career at Roma, notching 10 goals and adding seven assists in 20 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s men this season.
That said, there is a potential spanner in the works as Mourinho looks to keep one of his top stars.
The report adds that Giallorossi can block his exit, even if a club pay the sum. To do that they would activate clauses to raise his salary or extend his contract, which currently expires in June 2025.
Roma are also willing to sit down with Dybala’s entourage soon to rediscuss the terms of the agreement they reached last summer, hoping to cancel or at least modify the release clause included in their deal.
