Barcelona starlet sheds light on ugly brawl with Real Madrid veteran after Clasico

Barcelona youngster Arnau Tenas appeared on Catalunya Radio’s Tot Costa last night for an interview, during which the goalkeeper shed light on the heated brawl he was involved in with Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal over a week ago.

The incident occurred right after Barça had picked up a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in La Liga at Spotify Camp Nou.

Tenas, who was on the bench, was rushing towards his teammates to join in the huddle and celebrate the win when Carvajal charged towards him, pointing his index finger and then putting a hand on the 21-year-old’s neck.

Tempers flared as the two were involved in a heated exchange and had to be separated. Just as it appeared that things were settled, Carvajal appeared to say something that got Tenas riled up and he was charging towards the defender before being stopped.

During the interview, Tenas opened up on the incident, but did not give much away, stating that everything was resolved now.

“It’s all settled, I have no problem with him or anyone else. These are things that stay on the pitch. I was going to celebrate with my teammates, he came and what he said to me will stay between me and him. We talked about it and it’s settled,” Tenas said (h/t SPORT).

Tenas, who had recently spoken about wanting to see Lionel Messi back at Barcelona, also backed his young teammate Ansu Fati to come out strong from his current struggles.

“He’s always been a very dynamic player. Now he’s going through a bit of a tough time, but he’s very strong mentally and I’m sure he’ll bounce back,” Tenas said.

On the topic of manager Xavi Hernandez, the 21-year-old prospect said: “He transmits a lot of confidence, he is a very friendly coach, who treats us very well.”

Tenas is currently the captain of the Barça Atletic team while he also has to juggle the responsibility of being the third-choice goalkeeper for the senior side. Opening up on the experience, he added:

“I try to give 100% to be ready. It’s not a problem to go and play with the reserve team and the first team in the same weekend, I’ll do whatever it takes for this club.”
