Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram is reportedly on the brink of announcing his next club – and a string of Premier League suitors appear destined to miss out on his signature.
The France attacker finds himself in huge demand this summer as his Gladbach deal runs out. Indeed, as a free agent the clamour to sign the 66-goal striker is higher than ever. And having netted 14 times in 25 games this season, Thuram will seemingly have his pick from a plethora of clubs.
Indeed, interest from the Premier League in Thuram is widespread. Chelsea saw a January offer for the 25-year-old rejected, with the Blues maintaining their interest ahead of the summer window.
Since then, Thuram has found himself the subject of speculation linking him with Tottenham. And with Spurs potentially facing up to the exit of talismanic No 9 Harry Kane, Thuram is reportedly on their list of options to replace the England skipper.
However, the London pair are far from alone and there are reports that Erik ten Hag wants the striker at Manchester United. And while Kane seemingly is their top target, Thuram would prove a much more cost-effective alternative.
Finally, there are also ambitious claims that Aston Villa are trying to muscle themselves into the transfer picture. Unai Emery has the financial backing to push Villa up the table and Thuram is reportedly on their list of summer targets.
It’s not just Premier League clubs who are keen either. Per reports in Italy, both Juventus and Inter Milan are keen to sign Thuram too. And the player also has interest from Spain with both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona credited with an interest.
Marcus Thuram ready to sign for Bayern Munich
However, it seems Thuram is ready to disappoint all eight of those suitors mentioned by opting to stay in Germany.
And the son of World Cup winner, Lilian, will reportedly sign on the dotted line for Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga giants and 10-times reigning champions have lacked a big-name centre forward this season following Robert Lewandowski’s move to Barcelona.
And while Eric Choupo-Moting has filled the gap superbly with 14 goals, their need for a new, frontline striker, is apparent.
Harry Kane is among those to be linked – but his £100m-plus asking price looks extremely prohibitive to say the least.
Now according to Tuttmercatoweb, Thuram is closing on a move across Germany to Bayern.
He will reportedly sign a four-year deal worth around £100,000 a week at the Allianz Arena. And while he could potentially earn more moving to the Premier League, it seems his choice has been made.
With the likes of Jamal Musiala, Sadio Mane, Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane supplying the chances, Thuram should not be short of chances to score for Bayern.
Indeed, he hopes the move there can help cement his place in the France squad. Competition in attack for Didier Deschamps’ side is ridiculously competitive.
News of his prospective move there also contradicts what Fabrizio Romano was reporting just a few days earlier.
Writing for Caught Offside, he said: “There are really many clubs interested in Marcus Thuram. Barcelona, Inter but especially two to three Premier League clubs.
“It’s open and all of them are informed on the conditions of the deal. However, Bayern Munich are currently focused on different targets, despite reports on Thuram.”
