Chelsea vs Liverpool - Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups & prediction

Chelsea host Liverpool in a midweek battle of two of the Premier League's fallen giants.

There were lofty expectations of the duo heading into this season - the Blues had a record summer transfer window spend under Todd Boehly, while the Reds came within two wins of an unprecedented quadruple last year.

But Chelsea head into this meeting in 11th place, with Liverpool only three spots ahead of them in the standings.

A win would do either side the world of good, though pressure will particularly be on Graham Potter as he fights for his future.

Here's everything you need to know ahead of this clash.

Chelsea team news

Potter is likely to make some changes after his game plan in their loss to Aston Villa failed, though did seem pleased with his side's chance creation.

He confirmed post-match that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Denis Zakaria and David Datro Fofana were all left out of the matchday squad for tactical reasons and are fit, so one or two could return to the fold.

Mason Mount - a transfer target for Liverpool - may start after Potter opted not to rush him back at the weekend, while Raheem Sterling and N'Golo Kante are also vying for places.

Armando Broja and Thiago Silva are definitely out, while Edouard Mendy, Wesley Fofana and Cesar Azpilicueta are doubts.

Liverpool team news

Jurgen Klopp made a quadruple change with 20 minutes remaining in Saturday's 4-1 thrashing at Manchester City and though you'd expect him to make a few more at Stamford Bridge, he doesn't really have much room for manoeuvre.

Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara could return to the bench, though Naby Keita remains out and Stefan Bajcetic is out for the season.

Chelsea vs Liverpool score prediction

Defeat for either side could all but end their respective domestic seasons (at least Chelsea are still in the UEFA Champions League).

The Blues' hopes of reaching the top four are surely over but they can at least drag Liverpool back into that same purgatory with victory. As Manchester City demonstrated at the weekend, the Reds are there to be had.

Don't expect a lot of good defending, don't expect a lot of good finishing.

Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool
