Just in: Barcelona offered the chance to sign Joshua Kimmich

Barcelona have been recently linked with a move for Joshua Kimmich. It appears the Catalans are exploring the possibility of signing the Bayern Munich superstar, as a potential replacement for Sergio Busquets.

Barcelona believe Kimmich is worth around €60 million as he only has two years remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena. Bayern, though, have no intention to offload their star midfielder, who has been a crucial leader for the club in recent years.

However, Gerard Romero has made a shocking claim recently, suggesting that Kimmich’s entourage has offered the player to Barcelona ahead of the new season.

This can be huge for Barcelona considering the fact that the German international is one of the best midfielders in the world. He can be a great asset to the Barça midfield due to his experience, leadership and technical ability.

Kimmich is also familiar with Pep Guardiola’s positional play, meaning he should not find it too difficult to settle into life at Barça under Xavi Hernandez.

However, despite being offered to Barcelona, securing the services of the German might prove to be quite tricky. While the Catalans do believe the player’s valuation has taken a dip, he is still regarded highly and has enough left on his contract for Bayern to demand a fortune.

Romero, in fact, adds that Bayern Munich will make it very difficult for Barcelona to sign Kimmich, presumably asking for a hefty transfer premium for the services of the midfielder.

It will not come as a surprise to see Kimmich being valued somewhere in the region of €80-100 million. Barcelona, for their part, are currently studying the situation, adds Romero.

The Catalans have been linked with cost-effective midfield options such as Sofyan Amrabat. But they must be aware that the club will not have too many opportunities to sign a player like Kimmich, so they could be open to splashing a fortune on the German.
