PSG do not want to sign 24-year-old exit-linked Barcelona defender

Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain have pulled out of the race to sign Barcelona defender Jules Kounde, reports Spanish publication SPORT.

Kounde’s future with the Blaugrana is in limbo at the moment, with the player said to be extremely unhappy with the way things are at the club.

The Frenchman has made his voice known that he does not wish to play as a right-back and if the manager cannot change that, he wants the team to listen to offers.

Over the last few days, Premier League outfits such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were credited with an interest, and PSG were thought to be in the race too.

As it turns out, the French team, despite having the financial muscle, does not want to sign Kounde as the centre-back position is more than covered at the club after Marquinhos extended his deal until 2028 while Milan Skriniar is on his way to Paris as well on a free transfer.

Moreover, apart from the aforementioned duo, they have as many as three more players to cover the position, namely, Sergio Ramos, Presnel Kimpembe, and El Chadaille Bitshiabu. Although Ramos ends his contract at the end of the season, talks regarding a possible extension are in progress.

Bitshiabu and Kimpembe, however, have contracts until 2024 but it is said that the latter might leave the team in the summer.

In any way, PSG do not have Kounde in their plans which potentially leaves the Premier League teams in the race.

As reported before, Chelsea and Man United, in particular, are keenly observing the situation, but Barcelona have made it clear that any offer less than €75 million will be rejected.

At the moment, there are no official offers on the table, but come summer, the situation might change for the good. And if Kounde ends up leaving, Barcelona will sign a right-back.
