Barcelona have one more game to play in La Liga this season, but it appears that Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba have seen their final game in the Blaugrana colours. After all, it is only fitting that their final moments as Barcelona players remain being the standing ovation at Spotify Camp Nou with the crowd chanting their names.

The club conducted an official farewell event for the defensive midfielder on Wednesday, while Alba bid adieu to the Catalans in a similar event yesterday. There were tears shed, jokes made, and memories rekindled as the left-back gave one final interview and expressed his gratitude towards the club.

As part of the farewell event yesterday, the administration displayed the various accolades won by the defender during his time in Barcelona. One of the silverware on display was the UEFA Champions League title that he won in 2014-15.

During the event last night, Ousmane Dembele was seen walking up to the prestigious trophy and touching it. The forward’s action unsurprisingly caught the eye of the media as an open indication of how deeply he desires to win it.

In fact, Dembele spoke about the Champions League recently and even called it the one accolade he desired the most at Barcelona.

“My biggest dream is to win a Champions League with Barça. Winning this trophy with the club you love is the holy grail.”

The Blaugranas have suffered to no end in the European competition in recent years and have crashed out in the group stages in the last two seasons. Dembele, meanwhile, has had his own struggles with injury and has not had the impact he would have liked to in the UCL.

Heading into the 2023-24 edition as Spanish Champions, there is a sense of positivity in Barcelona about the European venture. One can only hope that the Frenchman shines this season in the grueling competition, for it would significantly boost the team’s chances of winning it all.
