Earlier today, FC Barcelona officially announced the departure of winger Ousmane Dembele to PSG in a deal worth €50.4 million.
As per the terms of a previous agreement between the club and the player, the Frenchman will receive €15 million from the total fee, with the remaining €35.4 million going into the Blaugrana’s coffers.
Now, Catalunya Radio has come up with details about the implications that Dembele’s exit will have on Barcelona’s Financial Fair Play situation.
Considering that it was previously reported that the transfer fee would be equally split between the player and the club, the fact that Barça received €10 million more is a happy boost.
Now, the report claims that Barcelona will have a Fair Play margin worth up to €26.2 million freed up following the departure of the French winger.
Breaking up the figure, the Blaugrana can utilise 60% of the winger’s salary, which comes up to €13.8 million, and 35% of the fee received for him, which would be €12.4 million, taking the total to €26.2 million.
This, coupled with the €9 million margin opened up from Franck Kessie’s exit, and the €60 million freed up from the Barça Vision deal, creates enough room for Barcelona to register all the players signed and renewed.
The La Liga champions have already completed the registrations of Ronald Araujo and Ilkay Gundogan, with more players expected to be added to the list in the coming hours.
It should also leave some room for any new players that arrive and more margin could be freed up if the club can offload Sergino Dest and Clement Lenglet are sold.
