Journalist David Bernabeu Reverter has reported that within Barcelona, there is a great deal of dissatisfaction with Robert Lewandowski’s performances and many believe that it’s high time for him to step up and help his teammates.
At the heart of Barcelona’s performance this season looms a significant question: Is there a footballer showcasing their utmost capabilities? Unfortunately, the answer appears to be negative.
Out of all this, Lewandowski appears to be one of the culprits as he is experiencing his least impressive season in 16 years as a professional.
In the aftermath of a significant defeat against Girona, Xavi made substantial changes to his team lineup against Royal Antwerp.
Only Inaki Pena, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, and Robert Lewandowski retained their positions, with the rest of the squad composed of youthful players in search of a positive response.
However, any hopes of a turnaround were shattered early on by Arthur Vermeeren’s goal. The seasoned players, expected to lead the team, failed to make a significant impact, leaving fans and teammates disheartened.

Notably, Lewandowski’s poor form persisted in yet another game, as the Poland international failed to register a single shot during the 70+ minutes he was on the pitch.
Furthermore, he was dispossessed thrice during the game while attempting a mere 18 passes throughout his time on the field.
Within the club, it seems as if the players are unable to rally and overcome the crisis in both performance and results.
Within this situation sits Lewandowski. Not long ago, we reported that the forward happens to be the centrepiece of this Barcelona squad and it is because of the players around him that he is not scoring goals.
As it happens, the Pole is equally at fault and the players are not to be blamed for his lack of goals.
It has already given way to speculations about Barça possibly selling Lewandowski next summer and instead installing Vitor Roque as the first-choice striker.
Much will depend on how the 35-year-old superstar recovers and performs in the rest of the campaign.
