Last night proved to be a forgettable one for FC Barcelona as they fell to a disheartening 2-4 defeat to Catalan rivals Girona in La Liga.
The result leaves the Blaugrana seven points behind Girona, who are now the undisputed leaders in the Spanish top flight.
It was an overall disappointing display for the Catalan heavyweights, but the most glaring issue was the lack of clinical finishing in front of the goal which cost them big time.
And, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha were the main culprits, with the latter failing to breach the goal even once despite making numerous attempts at goal.
Barcelona to take a call on Raphinha’s future in the summer
Amidst rumours that clubs from the Premier League are showing an interest in Raphinha, SPORT is reporting that Barcelona will only take a call on his future at the end of the season.
In the past, it was reported that Tottenham were weighing up a January move for the winger, while only earlier today, it was suggested that Manchester United wanted the Brazilian and would offer Jadon Sancho in a direct swap deal.
But, as things stand, Barcelona will not enter into any talks or negotiations regarding Raphinha. Any decision on his future at the club will be reserved for the end of the season when things will be assessed and a call will be made.
Raphinha does not want to leave
It must be remembered that Raphinha’s future was the subject of speculation last summer as well, but nothing came of it.
The Brazilian has always maintained that he wishes to stay put at the club and succeed and the Catalans’ new sporting director, Deco, also backed the winger and urged him to put his best foot forward this season.
However, things have not entirely gone Raphinha’s way, with injuries and competition prohibiting them from getting a regular run.
Despite the situation, he still enjoys the trust of manager Xavi and wishes to stay at the club. However, as with several other players, Barcelona will make a final decision at the end of the season, given that they need one or more big sales.
