Newcastle vs Luton Town - Premier League: TV channel, team news, lineups and prediction

Newcastle United host Luton Town in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, with both teams looking to build on impressive midweek wins.

The Magpies were away at Aston Villa and considering their poor form, it looked like a big ask. They managed to win 3-1 and now will be trying to build a good run of form and get back into the Premier League top-four conversation.

As for Luton, their 4-0 victory against Brighton was as impressive as it was unexpected. They do not look quite so doomed anymore and actually start this weekend outside of the bottom three and with a game in hand over their closest rivals.

Newcastle team news

Alexander Isak is expected to miss out here / Catherine Ivill/GettyImages

There is a good chance that striker Alexander Isak will have to miss this match against Luton after he went off against Aston Villa with a groin injury. The club aren't yet sure how serious it is, but Callum Wilson also has a calf problem and definitely won't be available.

Other attackers like Joelinton and Harvey Barnes will not be fit enough to play, so we could see Anthony Gordon or Miguel Almiron playing through the middle for a change. Long-term absentees Sandro Tonali, Nick Pope, Matt Targett, Elliot Anderson and Joe Willock are all out, but Jamaal Lascelles may return.

Luton are full of confidence now after their win against Brighton and they could be boosted further by the return of Issa Kabore from the Africa Cup of Nations, as his Burkina Faso side has been knocked out.

Jacob Brown might be back from a knee injury, but there will be no return for Marvelous Nakamba or Mads Andersen. Tom Lockyer remains out of the picture. Naturally, Rob Edwards is expected to field the same team that beat Brighton.

Newcastle vs Luton Town score prediction

This promises to be a fascinating watch given the wins that both teams got during the week, and it could be a much closer contest than one might have imagined earlier in the season. Luton will be very aware that they have already beaten the Magpies once this term.

Important attackers are missing for Newcastle and Luton will cause them issues. With that home support, though, Eddie Howe's side should have enough to get another three points here.

Prediction: Newcastle 2-1 Luton Town
