Barcelona coach Xavi sues well-known journalist over false news about internal investigation

On Wednesday, it emerged that Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez had sued journalist Manuel Jabois over false claims about a text exchange taking place between them.

Now, MARCA reports that Xavi is taking legal action against another journalist in the form of Javi Miguel.

The journalist, well-known in Barcelona circles, had previously alleged that Xavi had investigated his coaching staff to identify ‘leaks’ in the dressing room.

As part of it, it was claimed that the Barça head coach had the phones of all staff members collected and someone trusted by him went through their WhatsApp conversations to check if anyone had been communicating with certain journalists.

It was further alleged that some team meetings had taken place with just Xavi and the players, with his staff members being left out due to concerns about the leak.

The club had moved to deny those speculations and now, Xavi has reportedly gone ahead and sued Javi Miguel over these alleged false claims.

According to the coach, this news is absolutely false and he has sued the journalist, who now has a deadline to rectify this information. If he fails to do so, the lawsuit will continue.

In recent months, the relationship between Xavi and certain sections of the media has soured, with the Barcelona manager criticising them for putting undue pressure on the team.

Following the win against Napoli, the 44-year-old hit out at another journalist, who had termed the Barcelona team as ‘buffoons’ of the UEFA Champions League.

Now, the manager has turned to legal measures against two other journalists in Manuel Jabois and Javi Miguel.
