‘He’s a great person’: Barcelona superstar gushes over La Masia breakthrough starlet

Barcelona superstar Robert Lewandowski may be well past his peak years, but few can still match his eye for goal inside the penalty box.

Indeed, since joining Barcelona in the summer of 2022, the Polish striker has been a consistent source of goals for the Catalan giants.

Last season, he emerged as the Pichichi winner in La Liga, and most recently, ahead of the clash against Mallorca, the Poland striker was able to flaunt his Player of the Month award in front of Barcelona’s home crowd.

However, while his goals undeniably hold immense value, another aspect of his presence continues to prove invaluable to the Blaugranes: his experience.

Having won all there is to win in European football, the 35-year-old is entrusted to guide Barcelona’s young squad.

In a recent interview with TVP Sport (h/t SPORT), Lewandowski touched upon the incredible talent existing in Barcelona and the difficulties they encounter in today’s era.

Praise for the youth

Praising Pau Cubarsi, who has morphed into a mainstay in the Barcelona back-line, Lewandowski commended his absurd ability to distribute the ball.

“It had been a long time since I had seen a centre-back, especially at that age, breaking lines with that ball delivery and with so much tranquility. He is a great person,” he remarked.

Fermin Lopez also earned Lewandowski’s appraisal, with the Pole claiming, “He is a boy who really likes to work and can progress.”

The challenges that they face

Commenting on the off-field pressure youngsters face nowadays, the former Bayern Munich talisman added that the scrutiny of social media poses a great challenge. He also highlighted the toll football tends to take over the years.

“The people around them must be prepared for what can happen if things do not go well. It is another generation, there is Instagram and social networks, it is more difficult..

And they will not be able to escape from it, stay within four walls. It is the challenge of football,” he said.

As such, Lewandowski doubts “whether these players will be able to mentally endure ten, twelve or more years. The pressure is enormous, and few people will be able to cope with it.”
