PSG uninterested in €50 million-rated Barcelona defender, want midfield megastar

On Tuesday night, reports emerged claiming that PSG had shown an interest in signing Barcelona defensive duo Jules Kounde and Hector Fort.

It was suggested that a meeting had taken place between the two clubs during which the French club’s interest in the two Barça defenders was discussed.

PSG not interested in Kounde

However, a fresh update from SPORT’s Tomas Andreu claims that PSG hold zero interest in signing Jules Kounde in the summer.

As per the update, PSG are in the market for defensive reinforcements, particularly at centre-back. However, Kounde does not fit the profile that they are looking for.

PSG want a defender with a strong physical side, aggressive in one-on-one situations and a powerful aerial game – qualities that, from the outset, cannot be specifically associated with Kounde.

Furthermore, the report also downplays the interest in Fort, claiming that the Parisian giants are not looking to strengthen the right-back position either.

PSG want Frenkie de Jong

Instead, SPORT claims that the Barcelona player whom PSG are chasing most ardently is midfield maestro Frenkie de Jong.

The Dutchman is a player that the Parisian sporting department is keen on, although there will be no official offer until other operations with greater priority have been carried out in the remodelling of the squad.

De Jong, currently recovering from an injury, has time and again stated that he wishes to stay at Barcelona and succeed.

And even though club president Joan Laporta has stated that the midfielder will not be sold, reports continue to suggest that De Jong’s exit is not ruled out if a great offer comes along.
