Over 60 matches, the Argentine scored two goals and delivered four assists.

Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, announced this Thursday the departure of Federico Redondo, who will continue his career in Spain with Elche CF just a year and a half after joining MLS. The 22-year-old midfielder arrived in Florida in February 2024 for more than €7 million, becoming an important piece under Gerardo Martino. However, with the arrival of Javier Mascherano, his role in the squad diminished.

Reports from Fort Lauderdale indicated Redondo’s situation had shifted in recent weeks. The former Argentinos Juniors player lost prominence after the signing of Rodrigo De Paul and the continued leadership of Sergio Busquets in midfield.

Over his time in Miami, Redondo made 60 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing four assists. According to reports, Elche paid €2.15 million for his transfer, while Inter Miami retained a percentage of his rights for the future.

Inter Miami’s farewell message

In its official statement, Inter Miami highlighted Redondo’s contributions: “Redondo, 22, joined Inter Miami in February 2024 and played 60 matches across all competitions, scoring two goals and registering four assists. Notably, he was part of the team that won the 2024 Supporters’ Shield with a record 74 points in the regular season, marking the club’s second title in history.”

The club expressed its gratitude for his on-field and off-field efforts and wished him the best in the next chapter of his career.

A new chapter in Spain

Elche CF welcomed Redondo with the slogan “Elegance is inherited” in their official announcement. The midfielder signed a contract until 2030, joining as a strategic reinforcement for the midfield.

“With personality, talent, and a bright present despite his youth, Fede Redondo strengthens the franjiverde midfield, bringing creativity, work rate, and leadership. At 22, he arrives at the Martínez Valero as a key piece in Elche’s ambitious sporting project. Welcome, Fede!”

With this move, Redondo leaves the MLS after helping shape one of Inter Miami’s most competitive squads and now aims to make his mark in LaLiga.
