Transfer Gossip: Chelsea submit massive offer for defensive rock who Conte dreams of signing for Spurs; Euro giants rival Man City for Kalvin Phillips

Chelsea are edging ahead of Tottenham after submitting a serious offer for Gleison Bremer, Arsenal remain confident of securing the Gabriel Jesus transfer, while Saturday’s Transfer Gossip has news of a mammoth PSG offer for Kalvin Phillips.

GLEISON BREMER RACE HEATS UP AS CHELSEA SUBMIT HUGE BID

Chelsea appear to be in the driving seat for the signature of Gleison Bremer after launching a big offer for his services.

The Brazilian star will leave Torino this summer with a number of clubs keen on the defensive rock. Indeed, having tamed the likes of Dusan Vlahovic last season, Bremer is very much a man in demand.

At just 25 years old, his best years are very much ahead of him.

As such, a number of Premier League clubs have expressed an interest. That chase is seemingly being led by Tottenham, with reports suggesting they are prepping a mammoth offer.

Antonio Conte reportedly sees Bremer as a dream addition to his backline as he prepares Spurs for a Champions League return.

However, an offer from Tottenham is yet to come to light and it seems their dawdling has allowed Chelsea to nip in.

As per Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have on Friday night submitted an ‘important proposal’ for Bremer.

He suggests Thomas Tuchel’s side – themselves in need of new defensive signings – are now frontrunners for his signing.

Inter Milan are also keen – but they are struggling to raise the £42.6m (€50m) asking price. And Inter are also blocking efforts from Torino to include Cesare Casadei as part of the deal.

As such, Chelsea now look in control of the signing, with pressure now on Tottenham to make their move.

PSG MAKE KALVIN PHILLIPS APPROACH

Manchester City face serious competition for Kalvin Phillips amid reports that PSG are also bidding for the England star.

Kalvin Phillips, Leeds Utd midfielder, arrives for the Premier League game at Crystal Palace

The 26-year-old midfielder is likely to leave Leeds this summer amid reports of a big-money sale. He has two years left on his deal and there has been no progress over an extension.

And with Pep Guardiola seeing Phillips as an ideal replacement for Fernandinho, a move to the Etihad looks to be a question of when not if for Phillips.

Indeed, reports claim City are confident they can convince Leeds to sell for somewhere between £45m to £50m.

However, it seems they will not have things all their own way.

As per the Daily Mirror, PSG are also looking to secure the 23-cap England international.

They are reportedly willing to top Manchester City’s offer and present Leeds with a £55m bid.

Furthermore, they hope to tempt Phillips to France by offering him £200,000 a week wages.

And while the move still looks unlikely, it may force Manchester City to increase their offer for the midfielder.

PSG are also reportedly set to sign Manchester United target Vitinha, paying the release clause in his Porto deal.

ARSENAL CONFIDENT OF GABRIEL JESUS DEAL

Arsenal remain confident they can secure the signing of Gabriel Jesus – but are prepared to play the long game over his transfer.

The Brazilian looks likely to depart Manchester City this summer following the big-money arrival of Erling Haaland.

And with a year left on his deal, they are ready to move the striker on.

However, their £50m asking price appears too high given his deal expires in summer 2023.

The Gunners have seen an offer already rejected for Jesus, with City determined to stick to their guns.

However, as per Sky Sports, Arsenal remain “cautiously optimistic” over securing his signature.

They claim Arsenal have been in talks with his agent Marcello Pettinati for over six months – and believe Emirates Stadium will be his next destination.

As it stands, there is no agreement close. But Arsenal believe they can eventually secure his signing with City having little choice but to cash in.

The saga may rumble on for some time, but the Gunners are ultimately hopeful of landing their man for around £30m.
