La Liga president takes a dig at Barcelona over Financial Fair Play complaints

Speaking in an interview with the ‘Influencers’ magazine (h/t SPORT), La Liga president Javier Tebas has aimed a dig at Barcelona over their complaints regarding the salary limit and Financial Fair Play rules.

Barcelona found themselves struggling to register players due to their financial situation once again this year just like they had in the summer transfer window of 2021.

In the aftermath, there have been questions and complaints from the Catalan club’s camp over the lack of clarity regarding the salary cap rules and their application, with words being exchanged between Joan Laporta and Tebas in the recent past.

And the La Liga president has again spoken about the salary limit rules, insisting that they are very clear while adding that Barcelona seem to be the only club having trouble understanding the regulations.

“It is very clear. The only club who say that it is not is FC Barcelona, but they know what economic control is like and they know that with Bartomeu the same has been enforced,” he said.

Further discussing the topic, Tebas added that it might be easier for the Blaugrana to point fingers at him as they go about clearing the mess that was left behind by the Bartomeu administration.

“What happens is that, due to the situation they have, it is better to blame me, when I am not the one in control of the economy, for that there is a fifteen-person cabinet led by the corporate general manager,” Tebas added.

Barcelona were unable to register Jules Kounde ahead of the start of the season and had to wait until the third matchweek for the Frenchman to be officially added to their La Liga squad.

The Catalans are also understood to have encountered some late problems with Financial Fair Play, which prevented them from handing longer contracts to deadline day signings Hector Bellerin and Marcos Alonso.
