Barcelona midfielder will not miss Bayern Munich clash after injury scare vs Athletic Club

On Sunday, Barcelona secured a resounding 4-0 victory over Athletic Club at Spotify Camp Nou, with Ousmane Dembele starring for the Catalan giants with a goal and three assists.

However, the Blaugrana were dealt a couple of injury scares during the game against Ernesto Valverde’s side. Midfield sensation Gavi was taken off in the first half after he picked up a knock following a strong coming-together with Dani Garcia.

Sergi Roberto, meanwhile, dislocated his shoulder late in the contest and had to be stretchered off the pitch. And it has been claimed that the 30-year-old will not feature for Barça until after the FIFA World Cup.

There had been not much reported about Gavi’s condition, although manager Xavi Hernandez had insisted that the youngster was okay after the game.

Now, AS is reporting that the 18-year-old has trained normally with the rest of the team today and is in contention to feature against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Gavi enjoyed a brilliant last week as he won the Kopa Trophy and the Golden Boy 2022 Award, beating the likes of Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala and Real Madrid prodigy Eduardo Camavinga.

On the back of a memorable week, an injury would have been a blow for the teenage sensation. So, it will come as a relief for him as well as Barça fans that the 18-year-old is fit and trained well ahead of the game against Bayern Munich.

However, neither Memphis Depay nor Andreas Christensen are expected to return to action against the Bavarian giants for Wednesday’s clash at Camp Nou. Roberto and Ronald Araujo, meanwhile, remain long-term absentees.

Barcelona face Bayern Munich knowing that the result could be completely inconsequential if Inter Milan do not lose to Viktoria Plzen in their game which will take place before the contest at Camp Nou.
