Arsenal will be in trouble with Uefa after fan trouble marred their 1-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Europa League last week (20 October), according to Keith Hackett.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Fifa and Premier League referee claimed it is the “norm” for the home club to be punished regardless of which set of fans were the instigators.
Football.london journalist Tom Canton shared a video on Twitter of PSV fans throwing flares into the Arsenal end as well as ripping up seats in the away end after the final whistle.
The Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan reported last week (21 October) that Uefa have launched an investigation into the incident and PSV were set to be charged.
Asked whether Arsenal may also be punished as the home team for failing to control the away supporters, Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, it’s usually the norm.
“The thing is that Uefa take a very serious view of crowd misbehaviour and are pretty consistent on punishing clubs.
“We can all see that it’s very clearly PSV fans that caused the problem, we can see that. So hopefully some punishment will come to them as well.”

The win for Arsenal at the Emirates means they have qualified for the Europa League knockout stages after just four group games.
They have won all four of their group games and are next in action on Thursday (27 October) when they travel to the Netherlands to face PSV.
