Rangers watched Championship joint top scorer Jerry Yates in action for Blackpool in their Saturday win against Preston North End, sources have told Football Insider.
The centre-forward, 25, has been in outstanding form for Blackpool this season and is leading the way in the Championship with eight goals.
Rangers scouts watched Yates score one and assist two goals in Blackpool’s 4-2 success over Preston at Bloomfield Road.

The Glasgow giants are among multiple clubs keeping close tabs on the EFL goal machine.
Yates has a Blackpool contract that runs until the summer of 2024 and includes the option of a further 12 months.
Rangers are in the market for a striker going into next year.
Summer signing Antonio Colak is the Gers’ top scorer this term with 10 goals in 15 appearances.
But Alfredo Morelos, who has been Rangers top scorer in four of the last five campaigns, has netted just twice.
His brace against Preston was his third in four matches with the striker also finding the back of the net against Sheffield United and Watford.
He is naturally a centre-forward but is also comfortable playing off either flank.

He signed for Blackpool from Rotherham united in July 2020 and has gone on to score 39 goals and provide 14 assists in 112 outings for the club.
Twenty of those goals came in 2020-21 as the Tangerines won promotion from League One.
