Weston McKennie is hoping that Juventus receive an offer for his services late in the January transfer window, according to one reporter.
McKennie has already been facing an uncertain future at Juventus. For a long time, the USA international has attracted interest from Premier League clubs. Now, 2023 could be the year for him to make a move.
Juventus have been plunged into further turmoil after a 15-point deduction from their Serie A tally. As such, several of their players are wondering what the future holds.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, McKennie is considering his future. In fact, he is “still hoping a late window offer comes in”.
Although under contract until 2025, the midfielder is ready to change scenery. Furthermore, Juventus are “open to a sale”. With that in mind, links with three Premier League clubs have emerged.
Jacobs has backed up recent claims that a move to Aston Villa does not appeal to McKennie. They have made an approach, but he is “waiting” for better offers.
Those offers, he may hope, could come from a London-based club. Specifically, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are interested in him.
In terms of Chelsea’s interest, McKennie has spoken to his compatriot Christian Pulisic, who already plays at Stamford Bridge.
But for now, the Blues are focusing on Brighton and Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo as their main midfield target instead. Even so, McKennie is deemed to be a versatile option, so there could yet be room for him too.
But Tottenham – who are having a better season than Chelsea, but are dealing with their own issues – may be in a better position to bid for McKennie. He also has admirers back in the Bundesliga at Borussia Dortmund, having previously played in Germany for their rivals Schalke.

Only time will tell where McKennie ends up next. But the next few days could be critical in determining what his situation is at Juventus.
Per Jacobs, the Serie A side have told their players it is “business as usual”. Therefore, McKennie must keep focusing on his commitments in Turin for the time being.
The 24-year-old has played 95 times for them so far, including 20 appearances this season. He has contributed three goals and two assists in 2022-23, among an overall tally for the club of 13 and five respectively.
In theory, he might not be a priority target for Chelsea or Tottenham, but this could be the best time for them to lure him away from Juventus. Hence, they might want to consider accelerating any or adjusting any plans.
Either way, it wouldn’t be too surprising if McKennie is the subject of the bids he is hoping for next week. Which clubs make their move is another matter, though.
