Manchester United, Chelsea express interest in 25-year-old Bundesliga star

Switzerland international goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has been linked with a move away from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper has a contract with the German club until the summer of 2026 and a number of Premier League clubs are looking to snap him up.

A report from Blick claims that Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to sign the player during the summer transfer window.

The report adds that Dortmund could look to demand a fee of around €40-50 million if they fail to convince the goalkeeper to sign a new deal with them.

Chelsea will have to bring in a quality replacement for Edouard Mendy who has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and is expected to move on in the summer.

Meanwhile Manchester United are eyeing up along term replacement for David De Gea and Kobel seems like an ideal fit.

As for Tottenham, they will have to bring in a replacement for Hugo Lloris who has not been at his best this season. The Frenchman clearly needs replacing and Kobel has certainly proven his pedigree in the Bundesliga.

It is fair to assume that Borussia Dortmund will not be able to compete with the Premier League clubs in terms of finances and they could offer him a more lucrative contract. It remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League at the end of the season.

It would be a major step up in his career and it would also allow him to compete for major trophies.
