Al-Hilal denies Lionel Messi rumours, suggest there is no agreement yet

A lot has been said regarding Lionel Messi’s future lately. Recent reports had claimed the forward was close to moving to Saudi Arabia, with Al Hilal touted as a potential destination.

However, according to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, Al Hilal maintain. that there has been no agreement with Messi as of yet, contrary to what was reported in the media throughout the month.

The Saudi Arabian giants, in a way, approve of the recent comments made by Jorge Messi, who has denied the reports of Messi joining a Saudi Arabian club. But Al-Hilal admit that the Argentine is indeed their priority in this transfer window.

In fact, the Saudi Arabian giants will do everything in their power to ensure Messi joins the club. The operation to sign the PSG superstar has been overtaken by the Saudi Arabian government, which wants to promote the footballing league by bringing all the star players in the world of football.

The league took the first step by signing Cristiano Ronaldo earlier in the year. Now they have set their sights on Messi, in an attempt to revive the old and esteemed rivalry between the two.

However, the biggest obstacle for Al Hilal is the interest from Barcelona. The Catalan club are keen on bringing their prodigal son back to Camp Nou this summer, following the player’s two year stint at PSG.

Messi himself is reportedly keen on making the return and shares a good relationship with most of the current first-team players.

However, the operation will depend on how the club circumvents the FFP regulations and generate fresh revenue ahead of the new season.

That means Barcelona may have to play the waiting game, if they are to secure a deal for Messi this summer. The same can be said for Al Hilal as well, with the Saudi Arabian clubs also eyeing a move for the departing Sergio Busquets.
