Barcelona’s newest recruit, Vitor Roque has sent a message to the fans that joining the Blaugrana is a dream come true for him and that he is very happy to sign for the club.
“Culers, I’m very happy to sign with Barça. It’s a dream come true. Tigrinho is coming to Barcelona. See you soon. Força Barça,” said the youngster in a video post by Barcelona.
After much hustle, Barcelona made the acquisition of Roque from Athletico Paranaense official today. The player is expected to join the club for the 2024/25 season and will sign a contract until the 2030/31 season with a buy-out clause of €500 million.
Barcelona and Athletico have been in touch over transfer for quite a long time. The two have been discussing the terms of the move and finally, they decided to settle on a €30 million upfront fee.
Furthermore, as much as €31 million have been reserved as potential add-ons. As part of the bonus, €26 million have been reserved for goals and trophies while the remaining €5 million will be paid if the player ever ends up in the top three of the Ballon d’Or.
But the 18-year-old forward will not join Barcelona this summer. Due to Financial Fair Play reasons, the player will be liable to play for the Catalans from the 2024-25 season. Till then, he will continue his progress with the Brazilian team.
However, Barça are expected to make efforts to try and bring forth his arrival to the club to January 2024.
Roque, who is also called ‘Tigrinho’, has signed a long-term deal with the Blaugrana, until 2031 and once he arrives, he will be expected to be the understudy of Robert Lewandowski before replacing the Pole in the near future.
