Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez dropped a strong hint about where the club stands as far as the future of Franck Kessie is concerned after the game against AC Milan.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with an exit this summer and was not used by the manager against his former club.

When asked about his future, Xavi said: “Kessie didn’t play due to some slight discomfort. As for his future, he knows exactly what the situation is.”

Liverpool ‘like’ Kessie

It has been well-established by this point that Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Kessie, but SPORT claims that Liverpool also ‘like’ the Barcelona midfielder.

The Reds are in the market for reinforcements in the middle of the park and are looking at several options in the market, with Kessie among those on their radar.

However, the report goes on to specify that the Ivorian is not Liverpool’s primary target at the moment and they have not made any moves.

As for Juventus, they are pushing for a loan-to-buy offer, but Kessie is reluctant to accept the proposal as he wishes to move to the Premier League.

To that end, the midfielder and his entourage have been waiting for Tottenham to make an approach, but Harry Kane’s pending exit has meant that the Lilywhites are yet to make an offer either.

Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona will push for Kessie to secure a transfer away from the club over the coming week.

The Catalans wish to get rid of the Ivory Coast international and the player is now accepting of his situation that he will not have many minutes if he were to stay at the club.

After all, he finds himself behind Gavi, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Ilkay Gundogan, and Oriol Romeu in the pecking order under Xavi.

As such, the Blaugrana will summon him to make a decision on his future this week and hope to pocket €15 million from his departure.

Kessie continues to wait for one of Tottenham or Liverpool to come forward, but Barça will push him to accept Juventus’ proposal if there is no offer forthcoming from the Premier League duo.
